Catcher out to star at Ascot on Champions Day

Star Catcher will be a hot favorite to supply Anthony Oppenheimer using an third Champions Day success in so many years after she bids to crown an exceptional campaign.
The has seen that his colours carried by the Cracksman that was brilliant in the previous two renewals of the Champion Stakes to victory – and can return to Ascot hopeful of glory.
Trained by John Gosden, Star Catcher has won four of the five starts to date this season – by landing the Irish Oaks at the Curragh, the Ribblesdale in Royal Ascot and the Prix Vermeille at ParisLongchamp finishing a.
The daughter of Sea The Stars is well fancied to add a Group One the weekend, but Oppenheimer is taking nothing for granted.
He said:I hope she has got a good chance, but youve got the Oaks winner in there, who won a Group One final time, therefore it is no pushover.
I am told she worked well earlier in the week. As it is on the main monitor, which will probably be helpful for 28, the ground is not likely to be soft on the course. She moves on the ground that is great and soft, but wouldnt want it thick.
She stays in practice a year ago, so she will only run if Mr Gosden is pleased with the floor.
It would be fantastic to have a different winner on Champions Day. Lets see what happens.
Anapurna will only finish seventh supporting Star Catcher after encountering traffic problems on her comeback and was off the course for more than three months following her Classic success at Epsom.
When enrolling a clear-cut triumph at the Prix de 25, she showed her true colors to Paris.
Mark Weinfeld of owners Helena Springfield Ltd said:It is nice to be heading on the back of a win after what happened to her at the Vermeille. The Vermeille was a non-event for her, therefore that she did to bounce back time back.
What she revealed there was she manages soft earth very well and has plenty of stamina, so that is not an issue, but what could be is that shes coming back fairly fast.
She did have a mid-summer break, though.
Gosden has a third string to his bow in Sparkle Roll.
That this decoration has been claimed by aidan OBrien in each of the past two seasons with Hydrangea and Magical respectively.
This season the Ballydoyle handler launches a four-pronged assault, with Fleeting (Donnacha OBrien) and Delphinia (Seamie Heffernan) apparently his two chief contenders, ahead of South Sea Pearl (Sean Levey) along with Pink Dogwood (Pierre-Charles Boudot).
OBrien stated:Both the Fleeting along with Delphina were next in Group Ones in their last starts. It is pretty incredible that Fleeting has not won one yet. Shes in great form and ran a wonderful race in Longchamp (second in Prix de lOpera). She seems, although we have not done much since.
Delphina also ran a wonderful race in Longchamp the previous day (next to Anapurna) over a small bit further, but she seems to be in great form too.
Were a tiny bit lost with Pink Dogwood and we cant place our hands on why her kind has gone backward, but she is working well and was second in the Oaks.
Trainers have their string in better form. The three-year-old has not yet been seen in action since asserting a Recorded decoration at Newbury in June.
She did a nice piece of work at Kempton last week and we think shes ready, said Beckett.
The ground will probably be right up her alley – it could not rain enough for her.
Im hopeful she will run nicely. The attraction (10) is not ideal, but we can not help that.
She is very under-raced and I am hopeful theres somewhat longer to come. She moves there nice and fresh.
Beckett had five winners past Saturday, and added:We had a catchy spring, so it was not going well and then we struck a bit of a blip in July if they werent running nicely. Saturday gave us all a joy and it is almost always a fantastic idea to finish off your season
The William Haggas-trained Klassique is an intriguing outsider, having once completed in 10 starts.
She was seen placing third at a Group 2.
Klassique conducted well in France last time, but was somewhat flat. She adores the soft and so we deliberately set her off, explained Haggas.
Shes an outsider and has got quite a little to find online shape. If she can complete in the first four, we will be delighted.
