Snooker legend Ronnie O’Sullivan says he is not ready to retire just yet after winning the Shanghai Experts for a third consecutive year at the weekend.
The 43-year-old made his first appearance since losing in the first round of the World Championship in April to James Cahill and he recuperated by a scratchy beginning to claim a victory on # prize and Shaun Murphy.
World No 2 O’Sullivan is showing no signs of slowing up and expects to be competing in China”for so several years to come”.
O’Sullivan wrote in an Instagram article:”Very pleased to have won the Shanghai masters to the next time on the trot. . It’s been a trip. . With a few great matches to be involved in. . Excellent way to start my season. . Now I’m looking forward to what’s next. . Boy I adore Shanghai and China just what a excellent place to see and operate. . Will soon come back for many years to come. .”
‘The Rocket’ promised Snooker fans that he isn’t prepared to hang up his cue yet, comparing himself and Tiger Woods as he looks to keep on adding more silverware to his bulging trophy cabinet.
He informed the official website of World Snooker:”I always just try to hang in there. It is a little with how they play with golf like Tiger Woods or Seve Ballesteros. They are never out of it because every now and then they could produce just a small bit of magical. That’s the hallmark of my sport.
“I just play in events when I feel like this, therefore I do not class myself with all the guys which are out there. They have a lot and a whole lot. I don’t have anything to prove to anybody. I believe it is nice for snooker fans to see me play and they need me to keep going for so long as I can. They don’t expect me to prove myself anymore so I have.
“For another guys like Shaun, Judd Trump and Neil Robertson they still need to try and chase the documents that I have got if they wish to return as one of the greats. It’s fine carrying it out in a year or three or two decades. You must take action over two decades or a decade. I’ve done that.”
