DRAFTKINGS, FANDUEL COULD LAUNCH ONLINE BETTING APPS IN WEST VIRGINIA NEXT WEEK

The roller coaster that is West Virginia sports continued over the last couple of weeks. Media reports on Wednesday, however, noted that FanDuel Sportsbook WV and DraftKings Sportsbook WV may enter the WV sports gambling market after next week.
Bettors were offered by the report at the country some much-needed excellent news. In the event the programs go into the marketplace, it would mark the first available mobile option because BetLucky went awry in March.
Back in April, three mobile sports received consent by the West Virginia Lottery to operate in the nation:
It looks as if two of these may enter the industry.
Legal Sports Report reported on Wednesday next 14, that DraftKings could introduction in WV. WV MetroNews reported FanDuel looks promising to start next week as well.
“I can say we are getting really near,” nation lottery manager John Myers informed WV MetroNews on Wednesday.
“Testing is performed on one and ongoing on another. I really don’t have a formal roll-out date ”
Myers said he believes that online gaming should be available by Aug. 31, the beginning of school football in West Virginia. And not to mentionthe NFL season gets underway a week after.
Myers continued:
“We have wanted to see this up and running as much as anyone. I understand there’s some concern that it’s taken some time but once you do something. Now we believe we’re there.”
Football is the most popular betting season and the marketplace would have hurt. Missing the 2019 kickoff could be costly in terms of revenue for the state and WV casinos.
On Aug. 16, Myers informed PlayWV that regulators were getting close to final approval on a few sports betting apps being reviewed. He said the Wire Act had been an issue and analysts were working to comply with regulations.
“There is no holdup in the state side. The lottery has advised them how a system needs to be set up since 2018. A few of our management solutions providers initially provided a system which didn’t meet those requirements and the lottery refused approval of these based on the demands of the Federal Wire Act.”
The government appealed a judge’s opinion announcing that the Wire Act applies to Sports betting. It seems the state has worked through these problems.
Bettors in the Mountain State is going to be prepared for the wagering windows to start. But many will take a wait and watch approach.
As of now, there are 3 sportsbook selections for WV bettors since the match of this WVU football season strategies.
The country has seen this situation play out previously. A launching was rumored two months ago, but never came to fruition.
This came after the BetLucky program was shut down in March. Delaware North, the operator of Wheeling Island Sportsbook casinos and Mardis Gras Sportsbook, coupled with Miomni.
After a dispute between a European software firm called EnterG, the whole operation unraveled. Miomni and delaware North are now in court.
On Wednesday, Legal Sports Report detailed how things went sour. Miomni is now battling in court on two continents together with EnterG and facing a second with Delaware North in the usa.
“A pricing dispute produced a rift between EnterG and Miomni that ultimately left DNG [Delaware North] with no solution for sports betting, effectively shuttering WV sports gambling at March,” the report notes.
“Miomni never acquired the intellectual property sought, and EnterG all but disappeared from the radar. Now it is up to the courts to decide who’s to blame and parties own that pieces of the mystery .”
Past the legal entanglement, the dissolution led to the shutdown of the Mardi Gras and Wheeling Island sportsbooks. That has led to an even bigger sports gambling market in the nation.
With the news of DraftKings and FanDuel’s arrival, that may change. Plenty of West Virginia bettors will be keeping their fingers crossed.
