The roller coaster that is West Virginia sports gambling continued over the last couple of weeks. Media reports on Wednesday, however, noted that FanDuel Sportsbook WV and DraftKings Sportsbook WV can go into the WV sports gambling market when next week.
Bettors were offered by the report at the country some excellent news. If the programs enter the marketplace, it would indicate the first alternative that is available mobile because BetLucky went defunct in March.
Back in April, three sports betting apps received consent by the West Virginia Lottery to operate in the state:
It seems like two of them may enter the market.

“I will say we’re getting very close,” nation lottery manager John Myers told WV MetroNews on Wednesday.
“Testing is finished on a single and continuing on a different. I really don’t have an official roll-out date ”
Myers said he believes that online gambling must be available by Aug. 31, the start of college football in West Virginia. And not to mentionthe NFL season gets underway a week after.
Myers continued:
“We’ve wanted to see this up and running as far as anyone. I understand there’s some concern that it’s taken a while but when you do something for the time you have to dot the I’s and cross the t’s. Now we believe we’re there.”
Soccer has become the most popular gaming season plus a rollout could have hurt the market. Missing the 2019 kickoff may be costly in terms of earnings for WV casinos and the country.
On Aug. 16, Myers told PlayWV that regulators were getting near final acceptance on a few sports gambling apps being examined. He said operators still worked to comply with state regulations and the Wire Act was an issue.
“There is not any holdup in the country side. They have been told by the lottery how a mobile system needs to be set up since 2018. A number of our control solutions suppliers initially supplied a system that did not meet those requirements along with the lottery denied approval of those according to the requirements of the Federal Wire Act.”
The government recently appealed a judge’s ruling declaring the Wire Act applies to Sports gambling. It appears these difficulties have been worked through by the state.
Bettors from the Mountain State will be all set for the virtual wagering windows to open. But many may take a wait and see approach.
As of this moment, there are three sportsbook options for WV bettors since the match of the WVU football season procedures.
The state has seen this situation play out earlier. never came to fruition, although there was A launch rumored two months before.
That came after the BetLucky app was closed down in March. The operator of Mardis Gras Sportsbook and Wheeling Island Sportsbook casinos, delaware North, partnered with Miomni.
Following a dispute between a software company called EnterG, the operation unraveled. Miomni and delaware North are now in court.
On Wednesday, Legal Sports Report detailed how things went sour in the venture. Miomni is now battling in court at 1 litigation in the UK — on 2 continents with EnterG and confronting a second with Delaware North at the united states.
“A pricing dispute made a rift between EnterG and Miomni that finally left DNG [Delaware North] without any alternative for sports gambling, effectively shuttering WV sports gambling at March,” the report notes.
“Miomni never obtained the intellectual property sought, also EnterG all but vanished from the radar. Now it’s up to the courts to decide who’s responsible and parties possess that pieces of the puzzle”
Past the entanglement, the dissolution led to the shutdown of their Mardi Gras and Wheeling Island sportsbooks. That has led betting market.
With the coming of DraftKings and FanDuel’s information, that may change. Lots of West Virginia bettors will be keeping their fingers crossed.
