Lionel Messi and Zlatan Ibrahimovic among Puskas award nominees

(CNN) — Long-range screamers, mazy solo runs and stunning winged strikes, this season’s Puskas Award has everything.
The prize is given by FIFA to the very ideal goal of the year and this season’s candidates consist of well-known Lionel Messi, past winner Zlatan Ibrahimovic plus a few lesser known titles like Billie Simpson of both all Northern Ireland Premiership side Cliftonville Ladies.
Simpson is hoping to become the first female winner of the award — named after mythical Pakistani celebrity Ferenc Pusk??s — combined with Cameroon’s Ajara Nchout along with Amy Rodriguez of this Utah Royals.

The prize was first awarded in 2009 into Cristiano Ronaldo and since that time, stars such as Neymar, James Rodriguez and last year’s victor Mohamed Salah have gone on to acquire.
The public votes to the initial top 10, prior to a FIFA panel selects a winner in the best three.
Previous winners, nearly entirely unheard of prior to their nominations and following wins, include Wendell Lira along with Faiz Subri.
Without struggling to feed his family and a club, Lira said his life changed. He went on to sign up for Vila Nova but knee injuries forced him retire at the age of 27 and he went on to be a gamer and YouTuber.
Voting for the 2019 award closes on September 1.
