Liverpool wanted Steven Gerrard gone earlier, says Michael Owen

Until he left the bar according to Michael Owen, liverpool desired rid of Steven Gerrard.
Boyhood Liverpool fan Gerrard graduated in the club’s academy after Owen, registering a professional deal at the club 11 months after Owen signed up his.
Owen left for Real Madrid in 2004, together with Gerrard resisting interest to remain at Anfield that summertime.
Gerrard finally left LA Galaxy more than a decade later, however, Owen believes the former Liverpool skipper was forced to leave for pastures new.
“In Steven’s case, I seriously doubt whether he really wanted to go and perform in the States at 2015,” Owen wrote in his new autobiography Reboot.
“I have discovered that the club wanted him out two decades before when he actually left.
“I’m sure he would rather have wound his career down at Liverpool, playing fewer matches before he reached a point where he could be integrated into the training staff.
“This just happened after in his case. But instead, because he’d get strong and so symbolic, I think he had been forced out in the brief term. Steven was larger than the club.”
