Civil war consumes the Four Horsewomen: How WWE’s key quartet reignited the women’s division

The division of the WWE women dominated the factors in pro wrestling this week – and all because of the return.
Charlotte Flair, Bayley, sasha Banks and Becky Lynch were over both the broadcast of Raw and SmackDown along with both’s discussions. Following a spell on the sidelines for Banks, the quartet are very back with a bang.
A new, steely edge was shown by bayley by providing a voucher on SmackDown which raised eyebrows throughout the board and hitting at then and Lynch Flair with a steel chair.
It was a voucher that pointed on Bayley’s part but has been also to some cognitive dissonance.
The initial reaction to the chair shots was to cheer, and’Yes’ chant to break out, until the stadium filled with boos because Banks and Bayley made their exit up the ramp.
On SmackDown the seat shots were cheered, the audience began to chant for Becky Lynch. Who’s the head and who’s the heels? Who’s at the right and who is in the wrong? Arena crowds do not appear to know, and it’s creating a fascinating situation.
It has been a excellent week for WWE’s women’s division and it seems as though this is just the start of what might be something special. A vital element of the (admittedly somewhat short so far) achievement is that four of those Horsewomen have developed personalities.
Lynch is the self-styled’Person’ who believes and has a messiah complex – maybe somewhat correctly – which she’s the one which has elevated the branch. Flair is very conscious of the opportunities she has been given by her name into the business and her legacy and nepotistic but also egotistical.
Banks is manipulative, but trait hasn’t revealed itself yet, so far her return on WWE has been around dethroning Lynch to do so, also re-asserting her place as the alpha female of the branch.
And then there’s Bayley; proprietor of a person with and also by far the altered persona this week. It’s been a subtle tweak, too; this new character is not that different to the person she’s been around for ages although nonetheless, there is not much subtlety in hitting someone with a chair.
Bayley wishes to function as character model to the lovers, she still wants to increase the branch of the women and she wants to provide also the spotlight and feature matches to competitors who’ve perhaps been overlooked.
Nonetheless, it’s becoming down using an intense disconnection from reality and a sense of devotion to inventories that, while still an admirable attribute and you befitting a role model, is hardly a thing to look up to as it manifests itself in extreme violence.
She is the heels who does not realise she’s a heel. She is not reliant upon the’heating’ of a hometown insult or immediately villainous actions. When she talks of being a role model to young fans that the consequence is that their parents are not being said role models. It is as though she is speaking of a deed, of If she speaks to Banks of her devotion.
There are shades of Kurt Angle heels perform in play here, as well as a acknowledgement of the criticism Bayley confronted to her babyface promos which referenced the fact that she was a WWE fan as a youngster.
From that point, there is so much they can do with these four. Banks and flair have name suits against, respectively, Bayley and Lynch in Clash of Champions. In the card, these 2 matches have become the most hotly-anticipated in the space of a week.
The pay-per-view for October is Hell In A Cell – what price a deadly four-way between each of four with one of, or perhaps even both, singles titles on the line? Or perhaps a two-against-two by which Flair and Lynch have been forced to formed an alliance that would be deeply uncomfortable considering the brutality of their feud.
Survivor Series again will host the champion-against-champion matches, and is then. Lynch missed due to her Nia Jax-inflicted injury, together with Flair carrying her place contrary to Ronda Rousey. That story, as well as the Bayley-Banks rematch that is perennial, is. The possibilities are almost infinite.
They should map out storylines for these four that lead all of the way, if WWE want to actually build up to something particular.
If it is written and built the tale may be told of those Four Horsewoman putting their differences aside and uniting to deal with a frequent enemy – the four-woman group led by Rousey.
It’s a long shot, and a whole lot would need to take place between now and then but imagine itthe WWE Four Horsewomen at a steel cage against the MMA Four Horsewomen of Rousey . It wouldn’t get much bigger than that.
However, such things are a very long way off. The branch of the women is red-hot back in WWE, and there’ll be lots of opportunities for intrigue at the forthcoming weeks and months as the Four Horsewoman’s characters come to the fore.
The Four Horsewomen are back, and whether they might be at a condition of civil war, their own significance of WWE has this week become reinforced.
